Holmston Primary School

Last year at Holmston we had of the school role participating in extracurricular clubs, this year we are working to increase this. We had a team this term attend the sportshall Athletics competition where they did very well. We have netball and football clubs ongoing throughout the year.

We also had dance leaders out from Belmont delivering a dance after school club for P3/4 and helped them perform at the school talent show. We also had tennis coaching from Prestwick tennis centre. Some P7s also attended the transition club at Belmont and the gymnastics cluster club.

The school aims to create strong links with local sports clubs to develop pathways for pupils to attend sport in their local community. They are very lucky to have many club coaches to come into the school to work with the children and staff.

The school is currently receiving support and coaching from Ayr Rugby Football Club, Ayr Lawn Tennis Club and Senjokai Karate Club.

We also are lucky enough to receive support from Belmont Academy in supplying Sports Leaders and Coaching Academy pupils who deliver a range of extra-curricular clubs.

P7 class have completed their JCA award. They will be putting their leadership and coaching skills into practice by leading an after school club for the P1’s.
