Tarbolton Primary School

Volunteering

Laura Paisley and Cailin Beggs from Belmont Academy worked with the lower school in preparation for the Dance Competition in November. Although we didn’t win, we had a great day out!

Mr Ross leads our Football Team who meet every Thursday night!  The team recently took part in an Active Schools football tournament at Ayr Academy and had a great time!

Mr McQueen has been successfully leading our girl’s football team on a Tuesday night and is now actively looking for games with local schools.

Sports Leaders from Belmont also delivered a Multi Sports after school club to P4s and P5s

We also are lucky enough to receive coaching from Mr Thompson from Coylton tennis club at our breakfast club and will be working with us in term 3 in the lead up to the Tennis competition.

Linda from Dance elite has been successfully working with our parents and children at a joint club, teaching them various styles of dances. This has been a huge success.

Liam from Senjokai Karate has also been working with our parent and child classes to increase participation and interest in Karate.

Leadership

The P7s and P6s have recently completed their Junior Coaching Award and are putting it to good use by leading a Multi Sports Breakfast Club, Lunchtime Club and Out of Hours club for younger pupils.

One of our Primary 7 children Blair Craig has been helping out at our parent and child karate club, using his expertise and knowledge to give back to the younger generation.

Another P7 pupil Thomas Sutcliffe proudly helped STORM Basketball club to umpire the most recent Basketball Festival held at Heathfield Primary school.

Pathways

The school aims to create strong links with local sports clubs to develop pathways for pupils to attend their sessions. They are very lucky to have many club coaches to come into the school to work with the children and staff.

The school is currently receiving support and coaching from Ayr United Football Club, Ayr Rugby Football Club, Coylton Tennis Club, and Troon Volleyball Club.

We are also lucky enough to receive support from Belmont Academy in supplying Sports Leaders and Coaching Academy pupils who deliver a range of extra-curricular clubs.
