Competitions and Festivals
Barr Primary participated in the Active Schools Badminton, Tennis and Golf festivals last year. They also competed in first year of the Girvan Cluster Badminton League, Girvan Cluster Tennis Competition and the South Ayrshire Cross Country Completion.
Barr Primary were the first winners of the Girvan Cluster Badminton League, beating Dailly Primary in the final last year. They will compete against Dailly again in the first game of the league this year as they aim to defend the title.
There are no sports clubs within the village however members of the local community run sessions after school and in the evening for the pupils to participate in.
Fergus Blair delivers dodgeball afterschool, and David Trotter and Margaret Bunnett delivered badminton in the evening last school term.
School Sport Award
The school sport award is a national Award scheme for physical education and school sport that will:
- Recognise and celebrate successful PE & school sport models
- Encourage schools to self-reflect and continuously improve
- Put young people at the forefront of the decision making, planning and implementation processes
Barr primary has a School Sport Committee who work on the different areas of the award and have the final say on what sports are offered as extracurricular clubs.
The school currently has a bronze award.
