Barassie Primary School is situated in Troon and part of the Marr Cluster.
The School has been awarded a Gold SportScotland School Sport Award this year, recognition of the excellent sporting opportunities and PE provision on offer for children.

Barassie have excellent connections to the wider community including member clubs of the Troon Community Sports Hub.
Pupils enjoy input from a wide range of club coaches throughout the school year including football, gymnastics, rugby, volleyball and handball. The school are working closely with Dundonald Gymnastics Club to offer gymnastics coaching to children from across the Marr Cluster, this has seen over 60 children from local schools taking part in weekly gymnastics sessions.
Junior Coaching Academy
Primary pupils 7 took part in the Junior Coaching Academy (JCA) Programme delivered by Active Schools.
JCA teaches P7s the skills needed to be sports coaches, pupils are then given the chance to run their own lunch clubs for younger children.
This term 3 lunch clubs are being run by P7 pupils for P3, P4 and P5 pupils!
Barassie’s Sports Committee meets weekly to give children a voice in the provision of sport and PE in the school. The group consists of representatives from Primary 7, Teachers and Active Schools.
The Committee have started and promoted a number of key Health & Wellbeing initiatives within the school including The Daily Mile, The Big Pedal and a range of activities within the schools’ extra-curricular programme.
