Pathways

Heathfield has good links with Prestwick Tennis Centre who deliver taster sessions for P2 pupils, and provide a variety of opportunities to take part at the Tennis Centre.

P6 pupils attend indoor bowling sessions at Ambassador Bowling club in Prestwick. Each class gets 2 taster sessions where the pupils get the opportunity to try bowls.

P7 pupils will be attending curling sessions at Ayr Ice Rink in 2019. Each class will receive a taster session and the pupils will get to try curling

Miss Webster regularly delivers cheerleading and gymnastics sessions at various lunchtimes. She helps to prepare teams to enter the South Ayrshire competitions – which they have been very successful at over the last few years.

Blair and Sophie are sports students from Ayrshire College who are delivering lunch and after school clubs on a Tuesday. They will be working with a variety of stages over the school year.

 

Leadership

All P7 classes have taken part in the Junior Coaching Academy training programme, which is aimed at giving the pupils leadership skills in sport. Some of the pupils have already been involved in helping out at clubs with more to follow later in the year.

 

Volunteering

Mr McClure and Mr Thomson are the school football team coaches and deliver sessions on a Friday after school as well as taking the team to games.

Netball leaders Hannah Jennings, Emma Simpson and Victoria Otterson from Prestwick Academy deliver netball sessions on a Friday after school for the P6&7 pupils. This can only be done through the support provided by Miss Boyd. The team will be taking part in the netball league staring in the New Year.
